Rowe Family - Agricultural producers James Robert and Betty Rowe farm in Monroe County, Mississippi. In the late 1950s, they were not allowed to attend Mississippi State. However, they sent all six of their children to the land-grant university. Loston Rowe earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and was recognized as Alumni Fellow in 2016. Loston, along with his siblings, James Darnell Rowe (’80, ’87) of Stafford, Virginia; Demetric Rowe of Atlanta, Georgia; Lisa Rogers (’88) of Grand Blanc, Michigan; Candais Hale (’91, ’94) of Arlington, Texas; and Rita Jackson (’96, ’01) of Lakeland, Tennessee, established the James Robert and Betty Rowe Endowed Scholarship in CALS earlier this year. Serving as a tribute to their agricultural upbringing, the gift also demonstrates their parents’ legacy of investing in higher education. After attending MSU, all six Rowe children went on to establish successful careers in various disciplines and geographies. Despite their wide-ranging interests, the siblings all maintain their inherent Bulldog roots and the values instilled in them by their parents
